Non-invasive ECG for large animals
emka TECHNOLOGIES offers wired and wireless systems to measures ECG separately or concurrently in large animals during toxicology studies:
- emkaPACK4G for freely moving subjects
- SNAPSHOT system for restrained subjects

With emkaPACK4G telemetry system, physiological measurements are captured non-invasively and radio-transmitted by Bluetooth, to a receiver.
A classic system is made of:
- One external transmitter, worn by each subject, into a jacket.
- One or several telemetry receivers, positioned in the animals’ room, within 10 meters distance from their associated transmitters.
Each subject is therefore free to move, single or group-housed in its room, during the acquisition (max. 32 to 48 subjects per room).
The whole system is compact, as a single receiver can communicate with up to 16 transmitters, and is powered and transmits data through a single Ethernet cable. Up to 17 signals (ECG and much more!) can be recorded simultaneously from each animal, through various sensors plugged to the transmitter.
SNAPSHOT for restrained subjects
nibpSNAPSHOT non-invasively measures7-lead ECG (6 standard leads, 1 chest lead) and oscillometric blood pressure separately or concurrently in restrained dogs and primates during toxicology studies:
- Self-contained, hand-held measuring device
- Direct link to PC through USB connection
- Sampling frequency: 1000Hz
- Input pressure range: 0 to 300 mmHg
- User-adjustable measurement cycle (inflation and end-cycle pressure; 3 deflation speeds)
- Cuffs available in different sizes to adapt subject type and size (support for third-party cuffs)
Data acquisition and analysis
IOX2 software provides:
- Complete results in a GLP environment
- Heart rate, pulse transit time (when ECG is recorded)
In depth, further ECG analysis can be performed in ecgAUTO software.
