emka manufactures and sells hardware for tissue-bath studies, from simple, manual systems to automated, computer-controled systems.
Our four baths bench-top setup is suitable for most applications (aorta, trachea, papillary muscle...) due to the availability of a wide range of tissue fixation hooks and baths of different volumes.
The standard setup consists of a mainframe supporting four bath assemblies, each of which is composed of:
- a thermostatic jacket
- a removable PMMA or glass tissue bath
- a Vernier positioner
- a precision gas valve
Bath filling and flushing are driven by carbogen pressure and a vacuum, respectively.
The standard setup can be used with one or two solutions.
Options are available to automate certain operations, which can then be controlled remotely either manually from the control device or from iox softwarey:
- automated washes: Electronically controlled valves are used in place of manual valves used for bath filling and flushing in standard setups. These electrovalves may be operated manually through the control devioce or directly by software. iox has dedicated functions for bath filling and flushing.
- automated tensioning: The Vernier positioners of standard setups are motorized. Tissue tensioning may be controlled manually through a control device or directly by software. iox has dedicated functions for tissue pre-tensioning, and motors set a given tension or length.
- stimulation: may be controlled manually or by from software.
