External devices
iox2 interfaces with a wide range of external devices to modify the experiment in response to an outstanding input value (e.g. an elevated heart rate).
Examples of external devices:
- • peristaltic pumps,
- • syringe pumps,
- • robotic systems for drug injection,
- • solenoids and valves,
- • tissue tensioning device,
- • field stimulator…
A simple graphical user interface makes device linkage easy.
Once triggered, a device can operate in a stand-alone manner. For example :
- iox2 monitors the amplitude of a pressure signal, and, when it falls below a user-defined threshold (indicating occlusion of the catheter), automatically triggers a perfusion pump to flush the pressure catheter open
- a device can be controlled: manually; from a protocol (i.e. a wash instruction, tissue tension adjustment...); and/or automatically when the value of a calculated parameter (e.g. HR, SBP, T°C...) reaches the alarm threshold.
