Dr. Rita VANBEVER –  Faculty of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences of UCLouvain, Belgium

Rita Vanbever is Principal Investigator at the Louvain Drug Research Institute and Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences of UCLouvain in Brussels, Belgium. Her research interests include the formulation of inhalation dry powders, the study of the pulmonary fate of actives, pulmonary vaccination and formulation strategies to sustain drug release within the lungs.

Dr Olivier Burgy, INSERM U1231 – Université de Bourgogne, France

Olivier Burgy specialized in the field of pulmonary fibrosis, including cellular and molecular biology approaches based on in vivo and in vitro experimental models. He joined the Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté in 2019 and is now assistant professor of cell biology at the Health Science department of the University of Burgundy in Dijon. His lab at the U1231 Lipids, Nutrition, Cancer Research Center aims at deciphering the role of extracellular vesicles in chronic lung diseases. Dr Burgy is an active member of the European Respiratory Society and the American Thoracic Society and serves as reviewer of several scientific journals.

Franziska Roeder, Hannover Medical School, Germany

Franziska Roeder studied biochemistry at the Hannover Medical School and joined the Institute of Functional and Applied Anatomy for her Masterthesis. There she studied the postnatal development of surfactantproteins in rats. Being in contact with this topic, she got involved and very interested in lung research. In 2022, Franziska started her PhD in the working group of Prof. Lars Knudsen. Now she investigates the role of microatelectases in the development of ventilation-induced lung injury in the TGF-ß1 mouse model.

Dr. Jeroen Vanoirbeek – Faculty of Medicine at KU Leuven, Belgium

Jeroen Vanoirbeek is associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine at KU Leuven and affiliated with the research unit Environment & Health. His primary research focus is on inhalation and dermal exposure to noxious agents and adverse health effects in human cohorts and in experimental models. Lung functions assessment is an important asset in his research with small lab animals (mice, rat, rabbit pups).
